The Perfect Gin & Tonic
There is no such thing as the perfect Gin & Tonic. Everyone enjoys little variations but the basic ingredients are usually the same. This is how I happen to make my Gin & Tonics.
Gin & Tonic is considered a highball drink. Using a highball glass is preferable but if you don't have any, fuck it, use what you have.
- Fill the glass with ice. The more the merrier.
- Fill the glass 1/3 of the way with gin. If you can afford the good stuff, fantastic, but don't let any snobby drink connoisseur tell you that if the bottle didn't cost 100 bucks it ain't worth drinking.
- The other 2/3 are tonic. TONIC. Not soda water. TONIC. T-O-N-I-C. Soda water has a completely different flavor. 90% of the world's bartenders manage to screw up making this simple drink because they don't know the difference or are too lazy to crack open a bottle of tonic.
- Cut a lime wedge and slide it on the glass.
- Drink up before it gets warm!
